Ingredients:
To prepare the syrup:
- 2 cups water
- 4 cups sugar
- 1 Tbs. lemon juice
- 1 Tsp. rose water
To prepare the dough:
- 2 cups flour
- ½ cup Sunflower oil
- 1 tbs. milk powder
- 2 cups water
- 1 tbs. sugar
- 1 ½ tsp. yeast
-1 Tbs. flour (semolina)
- ¼ tsp. salt
To prepare the filling:
- 5 tbs. sugar
- 3 cups walnut, crushed
- 3 tbs. rose water
- ½ tsp. cinnamon
For frying: sunflower oil
Direction:
To make the syrup:
1- in a saucepan, put sugar and water. Stir until sugar dissolves completely.
2- When the mixture starts to boil, add lemon juice and stir for a minute.
3- Put the saucepan aside then pour rose water, stir once. Cool aside.
To prepare the dough:
1-In a large bowl add flour, yeast, semolina, milk powder, Sunflower oil, water, sugar and salt. mix ingredients until you get a dough.
2- Put the dough aside for half an hour.
3- In a heated saucepan, pour two tbs. from the dough. Simmer on low heat until golden. Repeat for the remaining quantity of the dough. Set aside to cool.
To prepare the filling:
1- In a bowl mix walnut, sugar, cinnamon and rose water.
2- Fill each dough circle with a tbs. of the filling and close by pressing the edges.
3- Fry qatayef in a heated sunflower oil until golden.
4- Put fried qatayef into syrup for a little bit, then lift and put in a serving dish.
